slash uses

This is the slash page where I give some idea of how I live this life of mine
Generally
- Text Editor / IDE
- For years I was using Atom, and when that was sunset I moved over to Pulsar which is a community maintained fork. I tried to get into VSCode but something about it just never agreed with me, it just always felt incorrect
- This being said I've also been jumping around between a few lately and I'm currently in this strange limbo where depending on the day, alignment of the planets, or any manner of things, I'll use a different editor, the two which are in rotation with Pulsar are Sublime Text, and Pycharm
- Photo Editing
- Not that I do a lot, but gimp is my go to, pinta if I need to pretend like I'm using paint
- Web Browser
- Firefox/Fennec on my phone
- Vivaldi if I want to be on a chrome-like with a chromium based browser
- Podcast App
- AntennaPod using nextcloud to sync
At Home
- Desktop PC
- AMD CPU, Nvidia GPU, 32gb of Ram, I'll post a neofetch when I get around to it
- EndeavourOS (yes, I use Arch) with Cinnamon, zsh
- But CachyOS has been really speaking to me as of late
- Three monitors, two side by side, and a vertical on my right (which is mostly used for youtube) but feels so good when I'm reading documentation on it and I get the full height at my disposal
- Homelab Server
- My old retired PC I was using from 2013-2024
- Proxmox, with a bunch of LCX containers
- A whopping 32gb of DDR3 RAM
- Kingston HyperX Cloud II
- Day to day headset, have the microphone handy if I need to speak to someone
- Samson SR850
- The headphones I reach for when I know I'm not going to be interrupted, and I can indulge in open back's for music enjoyment
- They're cheaper than the HyperX's were, but the sound is just different
At Work
- Desktop PC
- Was running Windows 10, and was the last windows machine I interacted with on a regular basis, but with some weird instability (and end of support coming up) I moved across to Linux Mint for that one. Logic being it would be a little bit more stable and less bleeding edge than anything Arch based. It's also nice to go back to where I started my linux journey (even if my first linux mint was fluxbox)
Out and About
(/carry anyone?)
- Moto G54, 5G
- I refused to use a phone without a headphone jack, and this is becoming harder and harder, so I also have a pair of
- Edifier Wireless headphones
- They're okay, but I much prefer my
- KZ ZSN Pro's if I can stand the cables
- My Old POCO X3 Pro which was blocked from accessing Australian networks because it couldn't be confirmed it would be able to call emergency services, it's become my podcast and games phone, playing solitaire with complete knowledge I won't be interrupted is an incredible feeling
- Secondhand Dell Latitude 5300 that I got for an absolute bargain price
- Touchscreen which was a big requirement for me when I bought it, but since I've moved away from Manjaro to
- EndeavourOS with Hyprland, I'm finding I'm using the touchpad a lot less
Cyberspace
This is where I'll talk about the sort of software I feel is worth having my home server for (hello /selfhost :D)
- The *arr suite of tools, iykyk
- Jellyfin
- Navidrone
